As previously mentioned on our blog, Washington County has plans to expand Bethany Boulevard from a two-lane road, to a five lane road with two lanes of traffic in each direction, plus a turning lane. This expansion would require Washington County to purchase land from properties along the one-mile stretch of road and thereby reduce backyards up to approximately 25ft.

The Washington County Department of Land Use and Transportation is holding a neighborhood open house, January 27, 2011 from 5:00-7:30pm at the Sunset Presbyterian Church (14986 NW Cornell Road) to present four design alternatives and listen to feedback from the community. For further details see: Bethany Boulevard Open House Press Release.

Our Brokers: Dirk, Lori, Lee, Shelly and Johanna from the Beaverton Clothes Closet dropping off the donations!

As previously noted on our blog, Lee Davies Real Estate has been participating in our own campaign for the Beaverton Clothes Closet called ‘Brokers for Basics’. Since December 1st we have been collecting new socks and underwear and gently used coats for this wonderful cause. The Beaverton Clothes Closet is a volunteer run project that provides free clothes for K-12 students from limited income families. Led by broker Shelly Brown, the LDRE team pledged to match all donations of new socks and underwear. This morning, we donated an outstanding 1,385 pairs of socks, 682 pairs of underwear and over 100 hundred coats, as well as monetary donations.

LDRE’s efforts were recognized on Sheila Hamilton’s ‘The High Note’ on 101.9 Kink FM. If you missed it, you can read about it on Shelia’s Blog.

THANK YOU to all the colleagues, friends, family, neighbors and clients who participated!!

Below is the press release:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Lee Davies Real Estate To Deliver “Basics” to Beaverton School District Clothes Closet

on Friday, 12/17/10 at 10:30am.  1385 pairs of socks, 682 pairs of underwear and over 100 coats plus  monetary donations collected.

Portland, Oregon – 12/16/10 – On December 1st, Lee Davies Real Estate began collecting specific donations for the Beaverton School District Clothes Closet.  “I received a notice from the school district that the Clothes Closet was in serious need of donations again” commented Shelly Brown, mother of four Beaverton School District students and Broker at Lee Davies Real Estate.   As a volunteer, Shelly knew that some bins, including socks, were nearly empty earlier in the school year so she contacted Johanna Shrout of Beaverton School District Volunteer Services to see what was needed most. “New socks, underwear and coats seem so basic but for students of families with limited income, there is a real need; so we decided to focus on those.”   Shelly brought it to the attention of her fellow brokers at Lee Davies Real Estate then blogged and posted a message on Facebook.  Shelly and her co-workers pledged to match donations of new socks and underwear from friends, family, neighbors, past clients and the public.  And so “Brokers for Basics” was born.

The response they received was astonishing.  540 pairs of socks, 218 pairs of children’s underwear and over 60 coats were brought in to the Lee Davies Real Estate office on Barnes Road in just two weeks and donations are still coming.

The Clothes Closet is operated by volunteers from the School District’s parent groups and Beaverton community to provide free clothing for students in grades K-12 for families with limited income.  Already this school year, the Clothes Closet has served 1300 students, with approximately 12,000 items distributed- a 20% increase over last year.

Brokers from Lee Davies Real Estate will load up their truck on Friday morning and deliver the clothing to Beaverton School District’s Clothes Closet at 16550 SW Merlo Road.  1385 pairs of socks, 682 pairs of underwear and over 100 coats plus monetary donations will be delivered.

BSD Clothes Closet Donation Drive

Between December 1st and December 14th Lee Davies Real Estate @ Barnes will be collecting specific donations for the Beaverton School District Clothes Closet.  The Clothes Closet is operated by volunteers from the School District’s parent groups and Beaverton community to provide free clothing for students in grades K-12 for families with limited income.

Already this school year, the Clothes Closet has served over 1200 students, with approximately 12,000 items distributed- a 20% increase over last year and yet another indicator of the demand in our community.  The Clothes Closet is especially in need of warm coats (all sizes welcome, but they are low on elementary sizes) and NEW socks/underwear (again, all sizes welcome, but their supply of middle/high school sizes are low).  To help facilitate the collection of these items, we have collection boxes ready at our Barnes location (across from St. Vincent’s Hospital) and encourage you to stop in and join us in this effort.  For every pair of new socks/underwear donated, LDRE Brokers for Basics will gladly match it.   Thank you in advance for helping us help others.

In celebration of the Grand Opening of our downtown office at SW Broadway and Madison, Lee Davies Real Estate will be hosting an evening of music and history featuring renowned pianist Michael Allen Harrison.  The new location is at 1211 adjacent to the Oregon History Museum and this private party will flow throughout both spaces.  “We are pleased to open our History Museum and welcome new friends and old ” says  Sue Metzler , Marketing Director  of the Oregon Historical Society.  “We hope that this celebration will also help bring attention to Multnomah County Measure 26-118 which will keep our doors open for just a nickel per thousand dollars of property value.”

The Lee Davies Real Estate Grand Opening event will take place from 5-8pm on Wednesday, October 27th.  If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Lori Davies at 503-292-1500 or Lori@leedavies.com.

After sleepless nights and days filled with nail biting, Lee Davies Real Estate was thrilled to successfully obtain a building permit for our new downtown office.  Located at 1211 SW Broadway, the new office is now under construction.  Demolition began 4am the day after we received the permit. Since then, walls have been framed, electricians have run wires, and the new office is beginning to take shape!

Question: How many electricians does it take to open a Lee Davies office?  :)
